PRESS RELEASE CND to submit national 'No Trident Replacement' petition to Prime MinisterFor immediate release: 17 July 2006 The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament today announced that a high-level
delegation will hand in CND's national 'No Trident Replacement' petition
to the Prime Minister on Friday 4th August at 11 am. The delegation will
include CND Chair Kate Hudson, CND Vice President Bruce Kent, as well
as MPs and leaders from trade unions and faith communities. Kate Hudson, Chair of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, said, "It is clear that the majority of Britons oppose building a new generation of nuclear weapons. Our 'No Trident Replacement' petition shows once again the huge public concern over this issue. The people of Britain largely believe that we should not waste £25 billion on hugely destructive, dangerous and unnecessary nuclear weapons, and that we should fulfil our obligation under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to disarm." end 1. CND's Press & Communications Officer, on 0207 7002350 or 07968 420859
