Celebrity press conference to announce national 'No Trident' demonstration

Well-known personalities from arts and culture will speak at a press conference to lay out their positions against government plans to replace Trident, Britain’s nuclear weapons system. The press conference will take place on Thursday 15th February at 1 pm at BAFTA, Run Run Shaw Theatre, 195 Piccadilly, London W1.

A number of celebrities will be speaking at the press conference, including:

· Comedian Mark Thomas
· Artists Peter Kennard and David Gentleman
· Musician Dave Randells of Faithless
· Fashion designers Vivienne Westwood and Katherine Hamnett
· Actors Richard Wilson and Timothy West
· Novelists Haifa Zangana and China Mieville
· Playwrights David Edgar and Caryl Churchill

All of these and others will add their voices in support of the 24th February demonstrations in London and Glasgow calling for ‘No Trident’ and ‘Troops out of Iraq,’ organised by CND, the Stop the War Coalition and the British Muslim Initiative. It is expected to be Britain’s largest anti-nuclear demonstration in decades.
