The 2012 budget will be announced on 21st March. We will have 50 buses driving around central London for the last two weeks of that month with a CND slogan emblazoned on the side:
"While you waited for this bus the UK spent around £20,000 on nuclear weapons. That's £63 every second. The total cost of replacing Trident is over £100 billion." There's a quick mock up of how it might look on the right.
The government are eager to avoid debate about Trident. This is not surprising, as their current policy is very difficult to defend. Whether on moral, economic or defence grounds the arguments in favour of spending more than £100 billion on nuclear weapons are not very convincing. With these bus adverts, and the rest of CND’s campaigning, we can make the debate impossible to avoid.
