19 August 2004: for immediate use
EMERGENCY PROTEST
Friday 20th August 5 -7pm Downing Street
Nearest Tube: Westminster
Protesters will gather at Downing Street on Friday 20th August from 5-7pm
to protest at the killing taking place in Iraq. They will be calling for
an end to the violence and demanding that the government pulls the troops
out immediately.
The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament repeated its call for the troops
involved in the illegal war and occupation to leave Iraq and for Iraqis
to be handed full control over their resources, their security and all
aspects of national sovereignty.
Kate Hudson, Chair of CND said,
“I was horrified by the massacre which took place in Faluja which
we are now seeing repeated in Najaf. The violence and the killing will
not end until there is true sovereignty for the Iraqi people and a government
based on the democratic choice of the Iraqi people. There cannot be real
peace and security for the Iraqi people until the aggressor forces leave
Iraq. The Iraqis must have full control over their resources, their security
and all aspects of their national sovereignty.”
The demonstration has been organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament,
The Stop the War Coalition and the Muslim Association of Britain.
