When using labels, emails or lists of members in your area, groups must consider the data protection laws which apply. I have supplied a brief summary of our responsibilities below. If you require any information regarding data protection, please contact Katy West in the National Office (

- CND’s Data Protection Policy states that members’ details (name, address, phone number, email address) must only be used for CND specific mailings and contact
- Contacts must be given the chance to opt out of mailings and email contact
- All group emails must have the recipients’ names hidden (i.e. in the BCC field).
- Details of members should never be publicised, even in mailings to or contact with other members, without prior consent.
- Contacts must be kept up to date so any details which you may have received from National Office must not be stored as they could change. Any time you need any details, please contact the National Office.
- Please help us to maintain the database and let us know if any email or postal address or phone numbers are no longer correct.
- Always include the details of a group contact to allow people to opt out of future mailings or to update their information
