General Internships

Internships at Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) offer the opportunity for individuals to further their career goals while helping CND to campaign non-violently to rid the world of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, creating genuine security for future generations.

As many graduates discover, salaried opportunities within the non-governmental sector are limited, consequently competition for such positions is great. By gaining valid work experience with CND, graduates can increase their potential for employment considerably.

Interns will have the opportunity to participate in CND projects in various ways, such as helping to source information for fact sheets, briefings and reports, assisting in researching information for educational packs, and helping with our news  and press service. Interns will also assume various programmatic and administrative duties associated with CND's activities.

Interns should have excellent research, writing, editing and organisational skills. Familiarity with computers is required, as well as an ability to use the Internet. Interns are asked to work one or two days (or 8-16 hours) per week so that they can establish a sense of continuity and undertake substantive assignments. It is preferable if volunteers are able to make a commitment of at least 3-6 months. Longer and shorter internships are possible upon arrangement.

How to apply

CND are in need of interns throughout the year. Prior arrangements may be made for internships at different times. Please submit by mail or e-mail to the address below the following application information:

  • A cover letter, describing the reasons for your interest in working at CND, when you are available to begin, and how many days a week you wish to work
  • Contact details for two referees
  • Your Curriculum Vitae to date
  • A brief writing sample (no more than one page)
